Great Commission Institute

Equipping, training, and launching Church Planters who will evangelize and plant churches.

Background:

One of the greatest cries from the church in Asia over the past 20 years has been “We need leaders.” For many they have no opportunity for training. They are the 'barefoot evangelists' who travel from village to village to preach the Gospel and nurture the believers. Some of them tramp over hazardous terrain in the Himalayan regions. Some boldly minister in 'creative access nations' where persecution and harassment are never far away. Others reach out in an environment hostile to Christianity.
It was this need for leaders that caused Dr. Paul Kauffman and Dr. David Wang to establish the Great Commission Institute (GCI) in 1986. The program is designed to train, launch and serve alongside indigenous grass-roots evangelists, pastors and church workers. Once graduated from GCI, most are engaged in evangelism, church planting and leadership multiplication.
GCI is unique in that it is intensive, mobile, hands on, and it forms a life-long habit in the participants to high prioritize the Great Commission. GCI is more than just training leaders. It focuses its efforts on training and launching the participants into cutting edge ministries amongst unreached people groups, resulting in new churches planted.
GCI training is regularly held in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Himalayas, Indonesia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam. The curriculum is a good mixture of practical ministry and basic theology.
