In 1984 the least evangelized tribal people in Myanmar were the Shan. A Shan doctor, based in Hong Kong, had a burden for his own people and sponsored a Shan native to attend an international Great Commission Institute training session. That native, was responsible for choosing and training the original 20 evangelists that AO sponsored back in 1984.

Current AO Activities

Shan Radio Broadcast

     Producing daily one-hour gospel radio program in Shan language. Our Shan Gospel Radio broadcasting from FEBC, Manila, Philippines, can be heard at SW2 15440 KHz every morning 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM (Myanmar time) 7 AM to 8 AM (Bangkok time) 8 AM to 9 AM (China time).

Shan Bible Translation

     Shan Bible was translated by Rev. Dr. J.N. Cushing in 1891. Revised Cushing Bible in New Shan writing is in process. The New Testament of Revised Cushing was published in AD 2000. Revised Old Testament is under way.

Shan Gospel Tracts Production

     For outreach program we are translating, writing and producing Gospel Tracts in Shan language.

Shan Gospel Music Production

     We are producing Gospel Music in Shan language for Churches and missions.

Shan Gospel Video Production

     Shan Gospel Video production is still in progress.

We are going to produce VCD for believers and Churches for learning and inspiration and non-believers as an Evangelistic tool.

Evangelism

     Evangelism is vital for Shan missions since only 0.4% of Shan believe in Christ. We are doing our best to reach all the Shan in China, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. We send our evangelists to Shan villages for evangelism and church planting.

Church Planting

     Wherever there are believers, there must be a Church to worship God and fellowship with one another. At the moment our church-planting ministry is going on in Myanmar-Thailand border, Eastern Shan State and Southern Shan State.

Training Material Production in Shan Language

     Shan Christian leaders and believers are very much in need of training. We are translating, writing and producing useful training materials helpful for the Shan missions.

Training Shan Evangelists and Church Planters

     We are giving short-course training program for Evangelists and Church planters and send them out for Evangelism and Church planting.

Shan School of Mission

     Shan Bible School is running in KengTung, Eastern Shan State. We are planning to have 'Shan School of Mission' to offer one-year training for future missionaries. This year we can only accept six students because of lack of fund.

Short-term Mission Trip

     We organize short-term mission trip to Myanmar-Thailand border every year, sometimes twice a year, so that our brothers and sisters can experience God in mission field and the poor and needy people will see Christ in us.
