We want to thank you for your partnership and support to rebuild lives and homes for the people of Bangladesh. One of our leaders visited Bangladesh at the end of January and came back with the following update:
Because of your loving gifts, Jonathan and his team were able to distribute relief packages and cash grants to over 400 families in four different districts of Bangladesh.

The Relief Package included:
10 Kg Rice
5 Kg Cereals (Dhall)
2 Kg Cooking Oil
2 Blankets
1 Sari (Ladies’ Garment)
1 Longgi (Men’s Garment)
1 Hurricane Lamp
Other than distributing relief packages, the team also started rebuilding homes for the people. By the end of December, 50 homes were rebuilt in Pirarbari and Motiakhali. At the end of January 2008, efforts were started to rebuild another 50 homes in Pirarbari and Poltona.

Relief Packages: 50

Rebuilt 50 homes
Cost: USD300 each
The cash given is to purchase materials for the basic structure, while the windows, doors and flooring were rebuilt from salvaged materials.
Rebuilding has to start somewhere, and the local villagers contributed their labor.

As the people in Pirarbari saw the love of Jesus being demonstrated in such a practical manner, they became open to the Gospel. They welcomed the team to return to share Jesus with them. Plans are now in progress for a church and basic school to be built on land donated by the villagers. Praise the Lord!

One Life being lifted:
Sorojini Gomez lives in MotiaKhali, Khulna. Her life was hard as she earns USD10-12 a month by embroidering blankets. When “Sidr” hit her area, a falling tree damaged the roof on her house. She was desperate as there was no way she could raise enough money to rebuild. But help came through Jonathan and the team. Today, she again has a roof over her head, thanks to your loving gift.
