Preventive Healthcare Program for Migrant Children

The Shanghai government has requested our help to provide the most deprived children with basic physical examinations and education on the preservation of health and the prevention of disease, as well as gather valuable data, information and statistics for the Shanghai Ministry of Health to improve the public healthcare system for migrant workers’ communities in the city. Under our Social Development arm, ActionLove, the Migrant Children's Project was officially launched in Shanghai on June 1st with a kick off ceremony. The actual work of providing physical check-ups for migrant kids started on June 8 at a Pudong school. There are 10 doctors from the local hospitals, four volunteer doctors, some nurses, volunteers and workers from a local foundation, At the end of the day the team served 500 children. The check-up will be completed by beginning of next week as there are 1,850 children. Please continue praying for the doctors, the volunteers, the workers, the teachers and of course the migrant kids. This was their first check up. They were very brave and curious. As soon as the local hospital provides us with the results, our medical advisory team will help us analyze them. Together we will produce the first report by anyone, on the physical condition of these migrant kids. Please pray wisdom, compassion and understanding for the team members and volunteer doctors as they implement this project, pray to for the success of this effort to bless the migrant workers' children and their family.
