Changed Lives in Birpara

The Shalom Church is located at the Sidha Line of Birpara. Birpara is a town in the Jalpaiguri district, approximately 115km away from Siliguri. The people here are mainly Nepalese who are deeply involved in idol worship and witchcraft practices. They are also superstitious and practice many different kinds of religious rites. Hence evil spirits control their lives. Ps. John Bhipon, the pastor of this church, is reaching out in this area to see deliverance and salvation. The following are two testimonies of changed lives.

TESTIMONY 1

Manoj is a normal and healthy five-year-old boy. His parents were Hindus, who worshipped many different gods and goddesses. Manoj began having disturbing nights where he would scream with fear and wake up from his sleep. He felt haunted by evil spirits who were pulling at his hands and feet. He became so scared that he dared not close his eyes to sleep. The fear overwhelmed him completely and it intensified so that even during the daytime he was being tormented. His worried parents eventually had to take him out of school.

A neighbor suggested that Ps. John could pray for Manoj. Running out of ways to help their child, they agreed and brought Manoj to Ps. John. As he began to pray, the boy began to doze. He was able to sleep peacefully that night. The attacks soon recurred but this time the parents called on the name of Jesus to help their child. Praise the Lord, the spirits stopped tormenting Manoj altogether. He is completely delivered and the whole family has accepted Jesus, and is now coming to worship in the church.

TESTIMONY 2

Mrs. Malati was a devoted and religious woman. She gained fame and respect in the Hindu community when she achieved faultless results in her witchcraft, fortune-telling and performance of religious rites. For eight months, she enjoyed the status of ‘god woman’ and the honor that came with it. At the same time however, she sensed that she was losing her peace and joy. In fact she began to feel that she was in bondage to evil powers. This was soon followed with physical sickness and problems in her family. She tried all sorts of ways to bring relief but nothing improved her situation. Finally, she sought help from Ps. John. Within a couple of days, she was completely delivered from the evil bondages. She gave up all her old practices. We praise God that she has accepted Jesus as her Savior.
