Earthquake Urgent News
On May 27, Yogjakarta in Indonesia was hit by an earthquake of 6.3 on the Richter scale. Over 5,000 were killed and 200,000 displaced from their homes. This is most devastating after the nation was hit by Tsunami only 18 months ago.
Our team in Indonesia immediately responded to the urgent need for medical relief and sent a 13-member medical team to Yogjakarta on June 5. They started in the morning of June 6, at Bantul, District Jatimulyo. Since then, they have been working non stop treating hundreds of patients. The initial plan was the medical team will stay for a week to 10 days, depending on medical supplies. But seeing the great need, our team is now going to stay for a month. (They have experience in providing medical relief for refugee during the East Timur crisis 5 years ago and early last year to tsunami victims in Aceh.)
Please pray that God will use the team to minister physical help, and bring hope to those who have lost their loved ones, homes and health.
