Jogyakarta Update July 12
One of our team members visited Jogyakarta earthquake zone and came back with the following report.
Our first medical relief team treated 1200 patients in 12 days. They arrived on June 5th and left on June 17th.
After over one month of relief work the area is slowly moving into the reconstruction phase. The people have recovered from the shock and despair and different organizations (esp. locals are motivating the victims to move on). Though there isn’t much reconstruction yet but there is evidence that the people are moving into it. House debris is being cleared and piled up for collection. People are working on their houses. Many have not due to lack of help. Some are still traumatized. Also this is the harvesting time and folks are busy at the field harvesting their paddy.
On July 10th, the second team of six to seven personnel arrived in Jogyakarta. The lead doctor reported that 4,000 patients are waiting for treatment. More doctors were required. We are planning to move into the GRAFTING THE GOOD NEWS INTO THE GOOD WORKS PHASE as this second team moves in. When this medial team leaves, two members will stay behind to share the good news where appropriate and when the opportunity arises. Please pray with them.
