Changing Lives at The Centre… One at a Time

Jeep enrolled at The Centre in January 2007 for English classes. He soon became very involved in all the activities. He would turn up everyday a few hours before class just to hang out, and on occasions arrived before The Centre even opened for students! For Jeep it seemed like The Centre had become home and he certainly began to feel like part of the family here.

As we began to spend more time with him there were so many opportunities to share the gospel with him and God really opened his heart.

After three months he graduated from Chiang Mai University and moved away, but many of our team members kept praying for him, trusting God to continue working in his life. He interviewed at a large advertising company and by this point had begun to pray to God, asking Him for help when he needed it. After praying to get the job, Jeep went for the interview. Someone asked him, “Do you really think you stand a chance of getting a job with so little experience?” Holding no hope of a job with this company, Jeep turned to his father for money to start his own business and was granted it. Jeep was thankful to God for providing what he needed for the business. Later that week the advertising company contacted him and offered him a job as well!

Before he left The Centre, we had spoken to Jeep about the practice of becoming a monk for a short period of time to earn credit for your parents, a practice common amongst young men of Jeep’s age. Even though he didn’t believe in the practice; he maintained he would become a monk if his parents demanded it. He maintained he was a Buddhist because his culture was Buddhist. To his surprise Jeep’s parents didn’t ask him to do that, and he believes that they may never do so! Another answer to our prayers!

Jeep continued to keep in contact with us at The Centre and continued to thank God for many prayers he saw answered in his life. When speaking to him we encouraged him to attend a local church as a way of meeting new foreigners to practice his English. Whilst there were no foreigners at the church Jeep attended, the local believers gave him a Bible. We encouraged him to read his Bible and continued to pray for him. One afternoon he called us. He asked about becoming a Christian, and gave his life to Christ over the phone! Praise God for his mighty work!

Jeep commented, “I can't believe that the short time I spent at The Centre changed my life! Thank you so much for caring and being concerned about me."
